Weeks 2-3 after Baby is Home

By MinimalistMum | August 16, 2021

I’d written about a possible routine which new parents can follow immediately after they return home from the hospital, so this post is a continuation on what to do right after that. Baby usually regains his/her birth weight between 8-12 days after birth. Once birth weight is regained, baby is ready to get used to…

Choosing Pumps and Accessories

Pumps may cost hundreds of dollars, and you might need multiple sets of accessories to save time as you pump in different places (eg. office, mother’s house, etc). However, they are totally foreign objects to new parents, and few people teach you how to use them well. Our Baby Planner is familiar with different pumps and will be able to share the pros and cons of each. More importantly, she will share many tips and hacks to save you time and money using what you already have!

New Lifestyle

Mental and Emotional Support

Many new mothers are ill-advised that they need to spend a lot of time nursing or pumping many times a day, especially in the first 8-16 weeks post-partum. This is misleading and often causes new mothers unnecessary fatigue and negatively affects her mental health. Let our Baby Planner explain how to regulate your milk supply and get into a sustainable routine to ensure you can still get a reasonable amount of rest to sustain your mental and physical well-being.

Support and Validation

Ensuring Easier Transition

Many new mothers struggle nipple confusion (i.e. babies not latching well after being offered milk in a bottle or using a pacifier), or babies refusing to drink milk from a bottle/frozen milk after getting used to the comfort of nursing/freshly expressed breastmilk. Our Baby Planning Consultant can share tips and strategies which prevent such issues. She can also help you with maintaining your supply while dropping the number of pumps per day and/or weaning naturally.

Alternatives to Hiring a Baby Planning Consultant for Lactation Support

While an IBCLC lactation consultant can provide a few pointers on latching positioning issues, and a postnatal massage lady might be able to help you massage engorgement lumps out from time to time, most new parents find it difficult to call on these specialists’ help continually through the intended breastfeeding journey.

Baby Planner SG, on the other hand, can journey with you for a longer period of time, possibly without increase in cost, by providing troubleshooting advice over text messaging or videos, or visiting your home to demonstrate different techniques as your needs evolve. For example, your baby’s size/weight increasing may require a change in latching or expressing technique; changing pump brands may not always mean you cannot use pump parts from what you are used to; you may have to deal with the onset of oversupply or undersupply as your lifestyle circumstances change, etc.

In all we do, Baby Planner SG respects your family's preferred choices

If any of the Lactation Consultant Services described above do not seem to really fit what you need or what you have in mind, please feel free to reach out to us and we can discuss more. Our services are bespoke and can always be customised to what you need.
